'Afternoon Tea' Shower
contributed by Frankie Haney

I gave a shower in the afternoon and served various flavors of tea along with punch. I brought out all of my teapot collection to use. I served traditional cucumber sandwiches (which everyone loved) and made scones and clotted cream with jams. For the serving plates, I used various floral china plates that I have been collecting.

The bassinet was covered with the mother's wedding dress with the bodice tucked inside and under the mattress. The long embellished skirt made a beautiful bassinet skirt and the dress was not harmed. The gifts were placed into the bassinet. I took several yards of nylon tulle and gathered one end, and tied with a ribbon and then thumb tacked it to the ceiling. The rest was splayed out around the head and sides of the bassinet and draped to the floor. Tiny roses could also be sewn or stapled to the tulle. I then set the mother's rocking chair next to the little bed for her to sit in.
