I had a shower with my 2nd child and I did not want to leave my first born (then 3 years old) out of the fun, so we bought gifts just for him to open at the shower so he felt like the party was for him too.

Sometimes having a second child can be distressing for the older sibling to be, when they begin to realize that they are no longer the sole focus or center of attention in the family. Try to provide a gentle transition into the older child's new reality by including them in preparation process wherever possible.
